Hi! My name is Steve Farmer and I am the lead pastor at Southland Community Church. My wife, Missy and I are from the Springfield area in Louisiana and have four boys.

My wife and I became born again Christians in 1992 and I have been in full-time ministry since 1994. During that time God provided several unique opportunities: attending bible college,  serving as youth pastor and small group pastor, beginning a para-church ministry designed to reach the youth of public schools, and planting a church on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  After serving seven years in Mississippi, we knew God was calling us away from the Coast and on to new adventures.

I knew that God had called me to plant another church… I just had no idea where. After four months of searching for God’s plan for my family, I finally felt at peace with our new direction. We were coming home. Back to Hammond, LA. Back to Tangipahoa Parish where it all started for us so many years ago.

Southland Community Church met for the first time on January 2, 2011 at the Quad Area building on North Baptist Road in Hammond.  I don’t know all that God has in store for us but I know that every time I’ve been obedient to His call, He has taken me on an unforgettable adventure.

We’re passionate about winning the lost to Christ, impacting the community, and making fully devoted followers of Jesus. That passion has been a part of everything we have done and will be a part of everything we do.

It’s been a pleasure sharing my story with you and I hope to have the opportunity and pleasure of watching God do the miraculous in your life too! Thanks for stopping by to meet us!

God Bless You,

Steve Farmer
